Worship is one of the most powerful tools for the people of God. Anybody can praise God for the bible says, “Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD (Psalm 150:6 KJV).” Meaning, if you’re breathing, the bible commands you to praise the LORD. All can praise God, but all can’t worship. “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24 KJV).” Worship is service. The goal is not to serve ourselves, but to serve God. Worship is adoration. “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness (Psalm 29:2 NIV).” Adoring God means you’re ascribing worthiness to God for who he is and for what he has done. The purpose of true worship is to serve and adore God. Worship goes beyond the lifting of the hands, the expression of adoration, and tears rolling down your face. That’s good and great, but worship is ultimately a lifestyle. It has to embody the essence of who you are. It is what man was made for.

I heard a guy say to his pastor: “pastor, I don’t sing, cause I cant carry a tune in a bucket’. The pastor wisely replied : “The Scripture states: Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD (Psalm 150:6 KJV).” And Ps 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Sir, in the old testament, God required a burnt offering as a sweet aroma and fragrant incense before His throne. Now, if that was acceptable to the Lord (and it had to stink), then surely He will accept your bullfrog croak of a song. Sing!”

Worship is every saint’s replenishment station. When we worship, we are in a conversation that is bound in communion with our Lord and Savior which results in joy. While we give God our shouts, songs, and grateful hearts, he gives back to us living water, the bread of life, the breath of his spirit, healing, and deliverance[1].

“The Religious Brain Project, a research project launched by the University of Utah found that based on MRI scans, powerful spiritual feelings during worship were reproducibly associated with activation in the nucleus accumbens, a critical brain region for processing reward.

In addition to the brain’s reward circuits, the researchers found that spiritual feelings were associated with the medial prefrontal cortex, which is a complex brain region that is activated by tasks involving valuation, judgment and moral reasoning. Spiritual feelings during worship also activated brain regions associated with focused attention.

There are scientific reasons to worship the Lord!

Romans 12:

1 ¶ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed[2] by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.[3]

Here is my story: As a teenager, I smoked a lot of dope and fried my short-term memory. I could not remember stuff I studied for a test, and I flunked outta high school. After I met Jesus, I felt impressed to return to school in adult education, in the hope of completing my GED. I had quit school in the end of the 10th grade, but at age 22 I completed grade 11 and 12 in one calendar year. I had failed math so many times I had completely given up on the hope of ever learning it. Yet, in adult ed, I met a very special lady named Mrs. Mclean, who offered to tutor me after school each day. She was an incredible teacher, who was able to take a student all the way back to first or second grade mathematics, without demeaning or demoralizing them, until I understood the basics, and was able to attack high school mathematics. I devoured it, while serving the Lord, and It was easy and it was fun. In fact, I liked it so much, that I did an extra year of adult ed in Canada called grade 13 or OAC’s, where I took three math courses and two sciences with almost straight ‘A’s’ on every quiz. I eventually went back to university at Carleton University, in the engineering program, and after 5 years of hard work, completed a BSc in Integrated Sciences, with a robotics major in mechanical engineering. I am living proof that the Word of God works, and that God can restore a mind fried from illicit drug use. 3339 μεταμορφόω metamorphoo met-am-or-fo’-o

Getting off alcohol and drugs is not the end of our story, only a new beginning, where God can make us far more than we could ever become in an of ourselves. Worship is part of the journey to get us there.

I like the article: https://walkwiththewise.org/7-immediate-benefits-of-worshiping-god/ The author gives us seven great benefits that come from worshipping God. I encourage you to read it…

“I can safely say, on the authority of all that is revealed in the Word of God, that any man or woman on this earth who is bored and turned off by worship is not ready for heaven.” — A.W. Tozer[4]

Since the Scripture declares that God inhabits the praises of His people. When He, Creator of Heaven and earth shows up in our lives, His Life, His Creativity, and His presence revolutionize our world.

I remember a worship experience that happened some years ago, in one of Benny Hinns miracle crusades that was riveting. Worship was rich and powerful and pastor Benny brought our attention to the passage in Isaiah chapter 6 where the angels with six wings, spend eternity, falling on their faces before the throne of God singing, “Holy, Holy, Holy’ is the Lord. Holy to the Father, Holy to the Son (Jesus), and Holy is Holy Spirit. Each time they do this, God grants them yet another dimension of Himself, that they have never seen or experienced before, and this is so awesome, they fall upon their faces, yet again crying Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty. And so it continues for all eternity….

I have had many encounters with God in worship that have changed my life forever. What I find amazing is this. Whenever I hear a particular praise or worship song where I have had a personal encounter with God, usually, every time I hear that song, I’m reminded of my previous encounter with Jesus in that song, and experience His presence there again…

Worship can become a drug so addictive that we learn the truth of the words: “There is no high, like the most High’. Sure, its not always about feelings, but when we authentically encounter the living God in worship, there will be feelings, longings fulfilled that nothing on this earth can satisfy.

This is the end of my Foundations in Christian living course, but a fresh beginning in your personal walk with Him. Now, take these notes, and share them with a broken hurting world that only Jesus can fix…

John 15:16

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Jesus has ordained you into the ministry, now Go share this good news with others.
