Abraham is said to have planted a tamarisk tree at Beersheba after resolving a dispute, a significant act symbolizing his investment in the promised land for his descendants and his declaration of faith in God as the “Everlasting God” (Genesis 21:33).

  Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) – God, Creator Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God (Elohim) created the heavens and the earth.” Elohim emphasizes God’s power and sovereignty as the Creator of all things.

  Yahweh (יהוה) – I AM, The Self-Existent One Exodus 3:14 – “God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM.’ And He said, ‘Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you.’” Yahweh reveals God’s eternal, unchanging nature—He simply is.

  Adonai (אֲדֹנָי) – Lord, Master Genesis 15:2 – “But Abram said, ‘O Lord God (Adonai), what will you give me, for I continue childless…’” Adonai expresses God’s lordship and authority over all.

  El Shaddai (אֵל שַׁדַּי) – God Almighty Genesis 17:1 – “When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, ‘I am God Almighty (El Shaddai); walk before me, and be blameless.’” El Shaddai conveys God’s all-sufficiency and mighty power.

  Yahweh Yireh (יְהוָה יִרְאֶה) – The Lord Will Provide Genesis 22:14 – “So Abraham called the name of that place, ‘The Lord will provide (Yahweh Yireh)’; as it is said to this day, ‘On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.’” Yahweh Yireh shows God’s foresight and provision in times of need.

  Yahweh Rapha (יְהוָה רָפָא) – The Lord Who Heals Exodus 15:26 – “For I am the Lord who heals you (Yahweh Rapha).” Yahweh Rapha reveals God’s power to heal physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

 

  Yahweh Nissi (יְהוָה נִסִּי) – The Lord Is My Banner Exodus 17:15 – “And Moses built an altar and called the name of it, ‘The Lord is my banner (Yahweh Nissi).’”

  Yahweh Shalom (יְהוָה שָׁלוֹם) – The Lord Is Peace Judges 6:24 – “Then Gideon built an altar there to the Lord and called it, ‘The Lord is Peace (Yahweh Shalom).’”

  Yahweh Tsidkenu (יְהוָה צִדְקֵנוּ) – The Lord Our Righteousness Jeremiah 23:6 – “And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness (Yahweh Tsidkenu).’”

  Yahweh Rohi (יְהוָה רֹעִי) – The Lord Is My Shepherd Psalm 23:1 – “The Lord is my shepherd (Yahweh Rohi); I shall not want.”

  El Elyon (אֵל עֶלְיוֹן) – God Most High Genesis 14:22 – “But Abram said to the king of Sodom, ‘I have lifted my hand to the Lord, God Most High (El Elyon), Possessor of heaven and earth.’”

  El Olam (אֵל עוֹלָם) – Everlasting God Genesis 21:33 – “Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and called there on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God (El Olam).”

  El Roi (אֵל רֳאִי) – The God Who Sees Me Genesis 16:13 – “So she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, ‘You are a God of seeing (El Roi),’ for she said, ‘Truly here I have seen him who looks after me.’”

  El Gibbor (אֵל גִּבּוֹר) – Mighty God Isaiah 9:6 – “For to us a child is born… and his name shall be called… Mighty God (El Gibbor), Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
