Attentive to Serve..

wait2Attentively Waiting upon the Lord

Isaiah 40:31
but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Ps 123:2
We keep looking to the Lord our God for his mercy,
just as servants keep their eyes on their master,
as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.

service

Some years ago, I heard a minister say that waiting upon the Lord, was not sitting still doing nothing, but like a waiter in a restaurant, serving attentively, with excellence, constantly looking to their clients very eye and hand motions, being ready for their next course, or slightest need.

Can we not serve Jesus and His people this way? Attentively, aggressively seeking Holy Spirit for the next need of our Master, every ready to jump, serve, listen, and move as He leads?

Waiting for God is not laziness. Waiting for God is not going to sleep. Waiting for God is not the abandonment of effort.  Waiting for God means, first, activity under command; second, readiness for any new command that may come; third, the ability to do nothing until the command is given.

Let’s Pray:
Father, Grant us attentive, sensitive hearts to hear, obey, and anticipate what Your heart says is needed next. We love You Lord Jesus, and would serve You today, Amen!
