Whose voice are you listening to?

1 Corinthians 14:10

There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

Voices, voices, voices all vying for our attention.
The incessant babble and conversations of people, buying, selling, sharing, teaching, asking for you to listen…and obey.
Its all about who is in charge, power and control, for is it not written?
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Then there can come the voice of angels, messengers of God from heaven into the earth, yet there is One that promises to speak, One that is gentle, kind, loving, and the only one that must be obeyed.
In the clamor of conflicting counsels, comes His promise:
John 10:27 (King James) 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
obey hear voice
Day by day, month by month, there comes His unfolding plan for our lives, as  deeply, simply, we seek Him daily, carefully tuning the antenna of our hearts unto His frequency, His still small voice.
Yet, leadership responsibility can lead to complacency, and former passionate pursuit can become apathy.
Hearts on fire, become dull, burning embers.
fire soul
Crystal clear reception becomes initially static, then, if we are not very careful, tuned to another station, and another voice is heard.
This is what happened to king David, mighty ruler of Israel, the man after God’s own heart.

Read with me 1 Chronicles 21 as David Takes a Census….

21 Satan rose up against Israel and caused David to take a census of the people of Israel. So David said to Joab and the commanders of the army, “Take a census of all the people of Israel—from Beersheba in the south to Dan in the north—and bring me a report so I may know how many there are.”

But Joab replied, “May the Lord increase the number of his people a hundred times over! But why, my lord the king, do you want to do this? Are they not all your servants? Why must you cause Israel to sin?”

So we see, David listening to another voice…

Obeying that voice brought great destruction to Israel…

Much can be said, and I have written much along these lines, but today, I’m asking, if you will, for the privilege of praying with you, for your heart, to hear Him, accurately…

Let’s Pray:

‘Father, there have been seasons of great, passionate pursuit of Your will and calling upon my life, but today, I would ask that again You might speak to me again, clearly, accurately. Deliver me from the will of devils and people who fight to thwart Your will for my life, may my heart again burn with passion for You and Your Kingdom. I ask this, knowing I am heard and answered, for I ask in Your name Lord Jesus. Amen’

Thoughts for deeper study:

2 Samuel 24 (AKJV)

24 And again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.

Ex 30:11 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 12 When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the Lord, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them.
