Still Waters Run Deep – Missing my family

family3
When my father was in the last stages of cancer, my aunt Emily, a Catholic nun, and a RN, my dad’s sister, came and stayed to help look after him as he wasted away. My other aunt Donna, my mom’s sister, also a RN also came to stay with us to help. During this time, when my father was delirious with morphine, our parish priest had come by, and I looked at aunt Emily and he in frustration, exclaiming, ‘How can you just sit there, why are you not praying for his healing?’ Aunt Emily looked at me with great love and said, ‘In the ocean, there may be great storms that ruffle the surface, but the depths remain untouched. Still waters run deep’

Not what I wanted to hear at that point, my dad was dying and I wanted him healed! Yet, life has gone on, and I have learned the wisdom of these words, and as hard times have come and gone throughout my life, I have learned the wisdom of not only these words, but depths of God’s love, and consecrated life of faith in Jesus will produce.

Philippians 4:11

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content

My dad died in 1996. He knew and loved Jesus. We will meet again.

Still waters run deep!
