Nephilim

Nephilim

Nephilim?
In today’s reading, we read:
Gen 6:1 When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them,2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. 3 Then the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with[a] humans forever, for they are mortal[b]; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”
4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.
Question for all you Bible scholars:
There are two main doctrinal positions on this passage of Scripture:
1. That the decendants of Seth formed a Godly lineage, named the ‘sons of God’ here, and that this passage describes them taking wives from the descendants of Cain (the ungodly lineage), bringing defilement to God’s covenant with humanity, that caused God’s judgement upon the earth, that is, the flood.
2. That fallen angels, actually had sex with women, and the offspring was half-human, half demon, bringing the Nephilim into the earth. Supernatural creatures, of extraordinary strength, size and power.
In the first case, we see an Almighty God, Holy, fighting to uphold His creation, and covenant. Big God, defeated devil, with God alone exhibiting creative power.
In the second case, we envision a powerful army of demons, able to emulate the virgin birth, and impregnate women with by spiritual seed.
Here is my problem with the whole demonic seed argument.
Mark 12:25
When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angelsin heaven.
In heaven, people cannot marry, but are like angels.
Would it be safe to assume, that if they are not married, they will not be having sex?
Would it also be safe to assume, that angels do not have sex?
If angels cannot have sex, they cannot impregnate women.
I remember, before I was a Christian, reading a couple of Vampire series books, by and author named Anne Rice. Freaky stuff, that I would not recommend.
In one book, an account was given about how the first vampire was born, in a religious human blood sacrifice ceremony, on an Egyptian alter, where a demon managed, through the ceremony, to impregnate a woman, and she gave birth to a vampire, or something like that.
Made my skin crawl reading it one night, suddenly hearing every creak, and breeze in the night, as fear of potential vampires came upon me…
Yet, now, I am a Christian, unafraid of vampires, for greater is He that is in me, than and devil in the world. Gotta remember who satan is, the god of this world, but he is a liar, and the father of all lies.
He wants to be worshipped, magnified, glorified, exalted, feared, for he is a proud creature.
He loves to be like God, but he is not! He is the created, God is the Creator!
He loves to emulate the work of God, and would love us to think he is some mighty being, to be feared…
Is 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
how art thou cut down to the ground,
which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart,
I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation,
in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell,
to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee,
and consider thee, saying,
Is this the man that made the earth to tremble,
that did shake kingdoms;
17 that made the world as a wilderness,
and destroyed the cities thereof;
that opened not the house of his prisoners?
18 All the kings of the nations,
even all of them, lie in glory,
every one in his own house.
19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch,
and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword,
that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.

My concern with the Nephalim teaching, is that it brings satan too much glory….
However, many prominent Christian leaders are teaching this position, and I have not studied it out enough, to be an authority on it.
I would love to hear your comments.
Let’s pray:
“Father, sometimes the beginning of understanding, is in honestly telling You, that I don’t understand, and want to learn. Please teach me the truth about this passage, for I ask in Your name Lord Jesus, Amen”
