The Blessing of Brokeness

Ps 6:1 ¶ «To the chief Musician on Neginoth upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David.» O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
2 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
3 My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long?
4 Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake.
5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?
6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.
7 Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.
Here we David, weary in well doing, convicted of his sin, with death looming over him. He is surrounded by enemies both natural and spiritual, and he is overwhelmed with grief. He falls upon his face, and his heart breaks before a Holy God, and suddenly, He is forgiven, restored, and rises up from this place of prayer in confidence, authority, and assurance that God has heard and acted upon his behalf.
Shattered, traumatized, overwhelmed, weak is where this psalm starts. The end of self, the place of total abandonment to God, where unless God comes through, he is finished, his life has ended.
8 ¶ Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.
9 The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.
10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
Not a popular message for us Word of Faith folks. Old timers used to call this place, the place of ‘praying through’. Brother Hagin used to call it the place of praying in the Spirit until he found that ‘note of victory’ in his heart.
He still gives grace to the humble, and though 2Ti 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
And He cannot lie, what He has promised, must surely come to pass, just need to encourage ourselves in the Word, and build ourselves back up in our most holy faith.
David was not stranger to brokeness. Imagine coming home to discover your wives, children and everything you owned has been taken by Amalakite raiders. First response:
1 Sam 30: 4 Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
This is what ‘we the people’ are currently doing after the murder of Charlie Kirk, yet let us read further in the chapter:
6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.
7 And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.
8 And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
Many, many Christians are weeping anguished prayers before God right now, God hears, He understands, and He is answering in power.
Break before Him. Give Him your weariness, frustration, sin, and pain. You will touch heaven, and you will be heard, and God will receive your prayer, and there will be a glorious echo from heaven, where the God of all thunder, responds in power, and brings to pass what you cannot.
